About TickTad
We built TickTad based on years of real-world investing experience — learning what works, what breaks, and what mistakes cost real money. While TickTad itself isn't open-source software in terms of code, our goal is to open source our years of hard-won investing frameworks and mental models. We want to hand you the exact thought processes and structural habits that allow disciplined investors to stay sane and profitable in irrational markets.
More importantly, we believe that basic discipline shouldn't carry a monthly toll. TickTad is completely free to use. All the key features—the thesis logging, the risk checks, the journaling tools, the analytics and more — are fully available without a subscription or hidden paywall.

Built by retail, for retail.
The team behind TickTad comes from a background in professional finance. We've spent years analyzing markets, understanding portfolio mechanics, and seeing how institutional desks operate from the inside. But at the end of the day, when we log off and manage our own family wealth, we are retail investors — just like you.
And as retail investors, we noticed a glaring gap in the market:
- Institutional tools are bloated, wildly expensive, and built for team-based trading desks that need massive data feeds rather than clear individual thinking.
- Mainstream retail apps are gamified like casinos, surrounded by flashing green-and-red feeds designed to trigger dopamine, cause FOMO, and encourage overtrading.
Neither of these options helps you sit down, think clearly, and make a calm, disciplined decision.
TickTad wasn't built for Wall Street trading desks or multi-billion-dollar hedge funds. TickTad was built specifically for the individual retail investor who wants to manage their own money with the mental rigor of a professional—without needing a $24,000-a-year terminal or a degree in financial engineering.
We're Just Getting Started (And We Want to Build This With You)
TickTad is still in its early phase. We are iterating fast, building in the open, and ruthlessly prioritizing simplicity over feature bloat. TickTad is meant to be a collective sanctuary from market chaos. If you share the belief that discipline and common sense beat financial noise every time, reach out and help us shape what comes next.
